About NEVIL

The North East Victoria Innovative Learning, Training and Professional Development Cluster (NEVIL) is a Victorian Department of Health funded initiative to improve the delivery of mental health services in the eastern metropolitan suburbs and northeast regional Victoria. It does this by providing mental health staff and consumer and carer consultants with ongoing professional development education and training.

MISSION

To provide Victorian mental health clinicians with evidence based, world’s best practice knowledge and skills in the diagnosis, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery care of people with mental illness.

Who comprises NEVIL

NEVIL commenced in 2004 and comprises six organisations that provide public mental health services. These agencies are:

  • Austin Health
  • Eastern Health
  • Forensicare
  • St Vincent’s Health
  • Goulburn Valley Health
  • Northeast Victorian Mental Health Service

Links to these agencies can be found on our Links page.

NEVIL is auspiced by St. Vincent's Mental Health Service. It's Management Committee comprises representatives from each of the participating agencies and consumer and carer consultants.

What NEVIL does

NEVIL conducts mental health professional development training. Activities comprise events initiated by the Management Committee and events organised and conducted by a cluster agency, primarily for its staff but with an invitation for other agency staff to attend.  All training is provided by experts in their respective fields.  Activities are conducted in both metropolitan and rural regions to cater for the large geographic area the cluster covers.

Training Activities

Please visit our Calendar page to view the current range of education and training activities programmed for the NEVIL cluster. The calendar is updated frequently, so if you have an interest in an activity that is not currently programmed, please check the site regularly.

As indicated above, education and training activities are normally only available to employees of those agencies involved in NEVIL. Other participants may attend on request.

Training activities normally comprise face to face presentations. Alternative mechanisms for training delivery, including on-line training, are being investigated.

Southern/ NEVIL Grad Allied Health Program
