The purpose of this workshop is to understand how a person with a developmental disability may respond with challenging behaviour to many different stressors.
The session will examine concepts of challenging behaviour, using case examples and discussion groups. Questions will address issues such as who is likely to present with challenging behaviour, and what factors may underlie the development or exacerbation of such behaviours.
The principles of management will be discussed, with particular reference to excluding physical and mental illness, and an overview of behavioural management.
