Workshop
Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness
Details
Melissa Metcalf and David Watkins, the Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness Coordinators for Hume Region, will lead participants through an essential range of conceptual and theoretical issues that impact on providing quality mental health care to families living with parental mental illness. The presenters will outline some contemporary issues that participates can consider in order for them to enhance their capacity to respond to the needs of these familles. The training will be based upon a strong evidence-based approach and will utilise a range of media and materials to underpin the presentation. At the end of this training, participants will: • recognise the importance of working with families and parents where there is parental mental illness; • have an increased understanding of important policy and legislative frameworks that guide their practice; and • have an enhanced range of materials and resources at hand to help participants in their work roles
