ASIST Tune Up

Details The tune up has five sections commencing with an introduction and overview section. In this section participants will be asked to reflect on intervention experiences and discuss what worked well and what was difficult; from this discussion suggestions can be made to improve future ASIST training. The four remaining sections focus on reviewing and providing "tune up" on the original ASIST elements of Attitude, Risk & Safeplan, Suicide Intervention and Networking. The overall goal of the workshop is to consolidate and refine previous learning. By completing the workshop, participants will be able to reaffirm their ability to be: • A willing caregiver who recognizes that attitudes affect interventions and has explored their attitude about the value of life. • A ready caregiver who understands that there are likely reasons for living and the importance of safety and ensuring that all risks alerts need to be addressed. • An able caregiver who recognises and explores invitations, is able to listen and talk openly about suicide, is able to involve the person at risk in making decisions, has knowledge of, is able to access local resources and is able to develop and implement follow up arrangements.
