One of the regular training activities provided by NEVIL is a three day orientation workshop. The workshop provides an introduction to working in mental health in Victoria. It is aimed at mental health workers that have recently commenced working in the field but components are also appropriate refresher training for experienced practitioners. The workshop includes information on the following subjects: an overview of the mental health system in Victoria, mental health & mental illness, mental state & risk assessment, carer/consumer consultant perspectives, practice strategies/interventions, outcome measures and legislation.
Twenty five participants took part in the Introduction to Mental Health training conducted by NEVIL at the Acacia Room, Repatriation Hospital, Heidelberg in February 2005.
